Celebrating 37 Years of Wedding Bliss

I'm proud to say that my parents has been married for 37 years now. And we, their children, are so thankful that they are still together and had never given up with each other...committed to their promises and still enjoying each other.

How I wish my husband and I will also be able to reach this stage and even more :)

We celebrated my parent's wedding anniversary at Gerry's Grill Marquinton last Saturday night. We had a wonderful dinner. Actually I initiated the celebration since my sisters seem to have no plans for it since they are also short with cash (malapit na sweldo kaya poor na daw sila, hehe). I was thinking to give them money so they can go out na lang or perhaps watch a movie pero mas type daw nila dinner with the whole family so I informed the whole family :D. I also created this digiscrap pic which we gave to them. It has written messages from their lovely daughters and son. at the back They were so surprised and happy.

I shouldered the expenses but it's okay as long as I know that I was able to make my parents happy. And my whole family happy.

Manic Monday #139

What is the greatest value that guides your life? my faith in God. This is what guides me and keeps me on track.

Fill in the blank: If I could be anybody besides myself, I would be_____ .
Honestly, I like being me. I admire some people but I never wished to be them or be like them but I pick up things I like from them so I can be a better person.

What is one item in your house that you should really throw out but probably never will? Hmmm... I think I don't have that one item. I always unclutter my house when needed but some of the things I keep for a long period of time are receipts. But after auditing I also throw them away.

Wordless Wednesday: S'mores

This is the cake I bought for the October Celebrants. Yummy S'mores from Red Ribbon. Everyone present were able to gobble a slice. Some took 3 slices.

The last celebrant to arrived with nothing but left overs. :D

On my attempt to wean her.

I'm having a hard time weaning my little lady. Well, actually her pedia said that she’s healthy (she doesn’t need an orovo detox yet, lol!) but the drinking of milk in the middle of the night should be lessened. As much as possible she should be weaned from drinking in bottles, but the little lady doesn’t want to. Last night I tried not giving her milk when she woke up and asked for it at 2am. I refused so she cried hard and kept on pleading me for a milk. I resisted her. I’ve done it to her twice. She was able to sleep after her long cry. I pity her but I know, I have to do that. She’s turning two and a half next month and if I don’t do that now, I know it will be harder for both of us.

Because of her kalikutan...

My poor little lady got a cut on her finger the other day. Ang hilig kasi makialam sa "kikay" kit ng mommy. She grabbed my eyebrow razor and hold it on its blade. I was shocked when I saw blood dropped on our bed. She have no idea na nasugatan na siya. I immediately cover the wound with cotton but the blood continues to flow. Medyo kinabahan ako pero ang aking dalaga, nakangiti pa. She just cried a little when I press the wound hard using cotton with alcohol. Then I cover the wound with a plastic strip.

Sobrang likot na talaga when a child reaches two. "Kalikutan or "Kakulitan" konti lang difference..haaayy. That's why we have to keep an eye on them every time. That's what I told the yaya. Baka next time e hindi lang blade ang hawakan, nakupo!

Her passport and barbie :)

I was able to submit all the documents for my daughter's passport yesterday. The passport will be ready by November 8. Yeah, I'll wait three weeks more to get hold of it, but for a working mom like me, it's a blessing that there's an MPS service from DFA which being held on a weekend. All in all I was able to go through the process in an hour. I went there at 10am and was able to finished by 11am. Naka encounter pa ko ng minor problem within that time ha, pero mabilis pa rin. The problem was Jaden's picture needs to be replaced..Medyo strict sila talaga sa color ng picture. What seems to be a royal blue to others, sa kanila hindi. May standard sila, that's why I have to call the nanny pa to bring Jaden there and have another picture taken. Medyo nahirapan pa nga ang DFA photographer to take her picture kasi ang tipid ngumiti ng aking dalaga. Actually, nakatungo at nakasimangot siya. After a few seconds we got her picture and submitted everything to the DFA officer. It was a breeze.

Since the nanny left Jaden with me, kami na lang dalawa ang magkasama. It was our first time to have lunch out together ha. We went to the nearest Red Ribbon restaurant and had our lunch there. And since the little lady doesn't eat much, she gobbled the cake that's part of the meal I ordered. Ang saya pala na kami lang dalawa minsan ang magkasama... We really had fun.

After our lunch, we went to Riverbanks to buy her milk and some groceries. On our way to the groceries area, the little lady saw a cute little doll. It's not a Barbie, but when she saw it she started shouting "Barbie! Mommy, Barbie!" at hindi talaga umalis sa kiosk until I bought the doll. Anyway, mura lang naman siya kaya I bought it na rin. Actually, first time niyang magkakaroon ng ganitong doll. She knows Barbie, it's her favorite but she doesn't own one yet. She only have Barbie shirts, bag, and coloring books. But she keeps on mentioning Barbie to her daddy when she's talking to him on the phone. Her dad promised to buy her a dozen when he returns next year. But of course it's not gonna happen as I don't want her to own a number of that doll. Baka masyadong maging "kikay". lol! Okay na ang isa.

Anyway, here's her new doll. I don't know the name since the package only says Koler. I'm not sure if that's the name of the doll. What a peculiar name for a doll, ha...but Jaden calls her "Barbie". :D

Went home tired and happy. It's one of the best day I had with my daughter.

Korean Pose

My daughter's favorite pose :)

I'm not sure where she learned that but it's automatic every time I took her picture. My daughter has learned a lot these days and I'm amused. Here are few things that she knows.

  • She knows how to arranged her wooden alphabet in proper order.
  • She knows how to count from 1-10 in English and Filipino. And she also knows how to count with her fingers.
  • She initiates our prayer before meal but what's funny is that she will mention everything that she sees in the dinner table. She would go like this: "Lord, thank you for rice, ulam, water, spoon, baso, gamot, Lord, o Jesus, amen!"
  • She can put her shoes on by herself and she can also removed it independently.
  • She mimics everything she sees me doing. When I'm sitting in front of my pc, she will go behind me, remove my ponytail and will start brushing my hail and she'll said "shampoo, mommy?"

I was reading my husband email just a while ago and he said that our daughter has grown big already. He really misses her so much.

It's Saturday!

Good morning everyone! I had a wonderful sleep. I didn't stay up late in front of my pc that's why. Today I'll be going to our city hall to go through the application of my daughter's passport. I'm thankful for the DFAs mobile passport system here in Marikina, I won't have to go through the tidious process in their main office on a weekday. If you want to check if DFA MPS will visit your area, you can go to their site and check the schedule, they have posted it early on.

I gotta go as I have to bath the little lady and prepare the docs for her passport.

Christmas Gift: Stroller

My sister gave birth last May to her second baby. It's a girl so everything that my daughter used was handed down to her including those that she also gave to me during my pregnancy. So Jaden was the one who overused the crib and stroller of her first baby. Now, I'm planning to give her a new stroller this Christmas. She said she wanted a lightweight stroller like this one:

2008 - Maclaren Volo Stroller
I saw this at babyearth's site. This is one of the Maclaren Lightweight strollers in their list. And they say that it is the lightest of all Maclaren. Well, if blessings continue to pour, I might get one of this for my niece. It's durable so my second baby will be able to used this after her :).

"When all I can say is...Sorry"

Yesterday, the October birthday celebrants in our office agreed to treat us to lunch. Actually, they all agreed to contribute. One pledged money to buy some food while others will bring in their contributions.

From the money that was given to me, I ordered pancit (noodles), cake from red ribbon, rice and drinks. It so happened that the person who brought one of the food (which was left inside the ref earlier) went out of the office and nobody told me whether the person is coming back or not. The other celebrant didn’t also tell me if he’s coming to the office on time and whether his food will come on time as well. Unfortunately, he said that the food will arrived at half-past twelve. Hungry as they were, the office mates told me that we should proceed even if they are not complete since there are two celebrants present anyway and will just eat what ever is available…it's 12 o'clock and they are already hungry!

To fast forward the story, the other food arrived 10 minutes before one butwhen the two arrived, there was nothing left for them to eat. Not even left over :D The other officemate was obviously upset that the celebration took place without them and that he was not able eat what he contributed. He was obviously disappointed that he even tried to burst out his frustrations...but the others were deadma. I on the other hand felt guilty. I felt guilty that I wasn’t able to set aside something for them. That's because I was not quick enough. I felt guilty that I was part of his disappointment on his birthday. felt sad that others didn't even bother to console him, cheer him on or buy him lunch (since he has not yet eaten). I felt and thought if are we that bad that we only love free lunch and don't even bother to think about why we're having that privelege? Sometimes the essence of celebrating birthdays here on the office is being forgotten. What was being magnified is the culture that celebrants has to treat colleagues. *Sigh*

A should be happy celebration ended with frustrations and regrets...sigh..sigh..

Haaaiii.....Sorry talaga…

No pain, no gain..right?

I was teasing my office mate a while ago because after our lunch we went to Healthy Options. She said she will look for green tea capsules. She really wants to get rid of her excess weight (I won’t say “fats” coz she might read this post, hahaha!) But alas, we found none. I told her since she’s so lazy to go to the gym and shed some sweat, she may want to try the best and quick solution: diet pills! She really wants to return to her pre-pregnancy weight, but she don't want to feel tired and exhausted with exercise. Any suggestion?

HoT #1: G is for...

It's my first time to join this meme.

This week's theme:
HEADS
- Anything that starts with the letter G

GIRAY - my surname when I was still single.

Back in high school, my classmates teases me because the local meaning of my surname is compared to a house which is about to fall {if not properly pronounced, intonation wise.} It's a term used to describe the leaning tower of Pizza in native Filipino language :D..that's why back then, I never wanted my officers in my C.A.T class call me by my surname. I feel I was being mocked :D

I had a wonderful busy Sunday.

We’re almost late in the service this morning. I woke up late (because of the Frappe). But still we didn’t miss the worship time. Going to church is really refreshing. The preaching was about handling frustrations so it was really wonderful.

After church we went to the mall to buy the little lady a pair of shoes. I was looking for a ballerina shoes since the one I bought before with garter seems uncomfortable for her. Whenever I take it off, there are red marks on her poor little feet. So instead I bought this. (Sorry can’t take a decent photo as the little lady wouldn’t want to let go of her new shoes)

And guess what…As I took off her black ballerina shoes and put this on her to see if it fits, she didn’t want to take it off. Incidentally, this was the last pair. So, I paid to the counter carrying only an empty shoe box. As we’re walking out the store, she kept on saying, ”mommy, pretty shoes! pretty shoes!”. She really liked it.

This was her black ballerina shoes

After going to the mall, we went to the hospital to visit my sister. She underwent a minor surgery. After seeing that she's okay, off we went to buy dinner and do some errands.

Went home dog-tired (a home theater seating could have been a nice place to relax, if only we have one). But seeing my daughter refreshes me again. So here I am, blogging while the little lady is playing. She’s fun to look at. She was holding bayfresh a while ago and started doing the sound of the air freshener then looked at me and said, “no more ipis!”... I can’t help but laugh :D

Am I Risk-Taker?

Saw this quiz on blogthings and thought about trying it out and see what would be the result.

Your Risk Taking Level: Medium-Low

You'll take a risk if you have to, but you prefer to err on the side of caution.

If something looks like it's going to work out, you may just go for it.

But frivolous risks like gambling totally aren't your style.

You prefer to have as much control over your life as possible.

Indeed I don't take risk on a regular basis :)

Digital Signage

When you go north, do you see the digital signage along NLEX? Our company was the one who supplied that. Yeah, it’s not really overwhelming. Not what I’ve expected as well. I passed by one time and saw that the message on the signboard can’t be read clearly by motorists. It isn’t appealing as well. But that’s what the client requested and we just delivered to meet their requirement so please don’t blame us, hehe :D.. I just hope that the client will decide to improve this so everyone will be happy ;).

For us, bath time is bonding time!

My Jaden wants that her mommy will be the one who’ll give her bath every weekend and of course, I also love doing it. Every Saturday morning (like what happened today), she’ll took my hands and will lead me to the bathroom whenever I told her that it’s time for her bath. She’s still like a little baby, as she enjoy playing with water and repeatedly turning the faucet on and off. I love hearing her giggles and squeals.

I so love times like this when we can laugh together even on simple things.

Hello!

I'm here at work right now and I know my day is going to be busy. I will not be able to write a lengthy post so I'll just write my updates in bullet points.

  • The eye glasses was fixed. I'm thankful that I only paid for the lens that was replaced.
  • We had a great mall time yesterday. My sister took us to lunch at The Old Spaghetti House.
  • The little lady is nursing a fever and cough due to colds. I'm having a hard time giving her meds. She don't like medicines :(. I might take her back to the doctor tomorrow if she'll not get better today.
  • The husband will undergo minor nose surgery. He said it's because he suffers nosebleeds frequently. I don't know the exact diagnosis, but he said it's nothing to worry about. I hope he'll get better after the surgery.

Today...just let me say..

I just got home from the two meetings I attended. One was a meeting of church workers with our pastor (which started at 3pm and ended at 8pm) followed by the worship leader's meeting, also with our pastor. I left the house this afternoon while Jaden was still sleeping and now ,I arrived and she's already asleep. I miss her. Oh well..

****

The meetings went well..I'm happy with the matters that we've discussed. I'm glad that I feel I'm back on track. A ReSt really helps to think things over and a good time for self assessment as well. I'm just glad that I was given schedule for next month and some changes will be implemented.

*****

Hubby's surgery was done successfully at 1:45pm kanina. Thank God. I pray that he'll recover fast. I was not able to talk to him on the phone even if I want to..He said he still can't talk.

*****

Well, there's not really much to say on this post. I just want to share how glad I am. Choco Cream Chip Frappe really do wonders! :D

How to identify products from China

I got this forwarded email from a friend who works in Unilab. I don't know who is the original author of this but I'd like to thank him for sharing. Here's a way to determine if a product is from China...

Dear friends,

The whole world is scared of China made products. Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China? Let me tell you...the first 3 digits of barcode 690, 691, 692 are MADE IN CHINA 471 as in the sample below is Made in Taiwan .

It is our human right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.

Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "made in China", so they don't show from which country it is made. However, you may now refer to the barcode. Remember if the first 3 digits are: 690-692 then it is made in China.

00 ~ 09 USA & CANADA
30 ~ 37 FRANCE
40 ~ 44 GERMANY
49 - JAPAN
50 - UK

80-days wellness

There’s a challenge given by our chairman among our group of companies. Five of our colleagues joined the 80-days wellness challenge wherein they have to lose weight {meaning, reached their target weight} in 80 days. They have few more days left for the final judgment that’s why everyday one of my colleagues rush to the gym down the building to run on treadmill. Honestly, I’m happy for them as I see their determination not just to win the challenge but to be fit and healthy.

Broken

I'm not planning to buy a new pair of glasses but now, it seems that I'm left with no choice.

The little lady with her uber kakulitan has done this.

What happened was she begged me to put this on her. So I did and told the yaya to look after her. A minute later, the yaya gave me the broken glasses and told me that the little lady threw it on the floor.

I understand that her little mind does not know yet the importance of a thing so I didn't scold her. it's my fault that I gave in to her request tin the first place.

I'll visit my ophthalmologist tomorrow and see if she can just replace the lens. if not, it means I'll buy another one.

Twice Happy!

During the time that P3 was reviewing their numerous members, this blog was disqualified. I felt sad since they also said that blogs who will be disqualified need not re-submit and will not be accepted again, so I let it be.

But I was surprised to received an email from them just now that this blog was approved!?! and my other blog was was also approved by SS yesterday.

I don't know what happened but I'm happy! :)

Ranting

Ganun ba talaga ang NBS??? kakagigil --grrr!!!--...

I bought a card holder for my boss kanina kasi he needs more space for the tons of business cards he has. So after lunch I went to megamall to buy that and some other stuffs.

Pag balik ko sa office and when I pulled out the item, I saw the cover..may crack. I immediately asked our messenger to go back to mega and have it replaced...Ang nakakainis sa tagal ng messenger sa NBS e walang nangyari...ayaw daw palitan dahil di naman daw yun sira kanina, how did she know e di naman niya nakita the whole thing. Sabi ng messenger ko ininsist daw talaga niya na palitan pero ayaw daw talaga at pinagantay lang siya ng matagal.

Hay naku. I don't want to spoil the day kaya I let it be. Di na ko nag insist pa na bumalik dun. But that's a really bad experience. Next time I'll just make sure na I'll check whatever items I'll bought.

At last!

After using this prepaid broadband kit for about 15 days, I was able find out how to check my available balance. Their kit says that I should visit a certain link so I can check my balance on line, pero ilang days ko ng binibista yung site, I can't seem to find the link that will direct me to where I should go. Hirap ng prepaid kasi you have to monitor your load balance to avoid being cut of connection due to insufficiency. Mali naman kasi yung URL na nasa kit nila, they should have put the right adress para hindi confusing. Anyway, at least now ok na...I'm planning to call their customer service pa naman to complain ;D. Thanks to a friend who works in smart...he gave me the right adress {and I registered, may promo pala ngayon...may chance daw ako to win a laptop! I wish :D} ngayon, mas magaan na ang buhay :D..

Wrdless Wednesday: What's that smell?

This was taken inside SM Marikina Dept. Store. Jaden and her uncle really had fun even inside the store.

My other entry is here..and view more entries here.
