Just sharing how happy I am!

The sheriff has been so kind and generous to me this week!!! I had what I’ll call post-marathon….err..post overload?? Anyway…I am just so so happy that they responded to my request. I thought they will completely ignore my request but no. They’ve given me extra last Monday and another batch today! Oh I.am.so.so.so.HAPPY!

I have only one more to accomplish and it’s about GPS. That will be the last..and I hope more to come! Thanks a bunch!

Managing our finances

After hearing the compelling and energetic lecture of Dave Ramsey, I was encouraged to get really serious on the proper and effectivebudgeting and planning of our finances.

Dave Ramsey’s principle is “live like no one else, so that later you can live like no one else”. It’s very simple and easy to say but its really HARD WORK! I want to gain further knowledge on this that’s why I’ll buy his book about this..I told you I’m serious! :D

Welcome to the family Alexa Nicole!

My sister gave birth to a bouncing baby girl last night! I am soooo excited to see baby girl Alexa Nicole!!! (not sure though if this is the final name :D).. *I’m clapping here*

It’s a baby girl again so all of Jaden’s baby clothes (which are actually hand-me-downs from her) will be used again..I also gave her all those I personally bought which Jaden do not use anymore.

Anyways…I’m getting mixed emotions here…happy for the new addition to the family and quite sad that Jaden is not anymore the youngest and cutest…!:D hehehe…hmmmm…I 'm jealous? envious? Uh-oh.. I want to have baby #2 already!!! Hubby??? :D

Not too late for summer next year

Last summer was sooo hot! As in! I was planning to buy an air conditioning unit because of my daughter but I was thinking of its effect on our electricity bill. I also considered air purifiers. I did my own research comparing AC and air purifiers. Some suggested getting AC instead of purifiers. A friend told me that purifiers are cheaper but its cooling capacity is limited unlike AC. I’m not sure though about Austin Air air purifiers. I was still on my comparison-decision stage when the national weather station declared summer is officially over! Hahaha!! Oh well…hubby said he’ll still send us portable AC. Cool!

The space -saver furniture

Speaking of the new house, it’s not that big. So I know we’ll be forced to let go of some of our furniture and invest on space-saving ones. I’m thinking of selling away our dining room furniture and look for something like this:

This is really what we’ll need to save some space. I hope I can find a four-seater one with this type.

Our house on my mind

As I have posted here some time ago, we are paying for a house we got which is still being constructed. We might be able to take out the house by next year. But as early as now, I’m already excited. I’m already constructing on my mind the interior design of the house. Even the color of the walls...I am so excited to have our own home where I can do everything I want. I remember when we are decorating our apartment, hubby wants blinds on the windows. I want curtains. But of course I won! :D. Now for this house, we will have major decision for sure. It will be fun!

Of course, Daddy bloggers themselves may also join, but you have to blog about your fathers and not about yourselves, deal? Okay. Good.

3) Add your blog in the list below linking to the post that you just made. Or if you wish, do it as how I’ve done it in my other blog by adding a new page.

In "Other"Word: Live Like No One Else

"If you'll live like no one else, then later you can live like no one else."
~ Dave Ramsey ~

This quote reminds me of the ant in Proverbs 6:6

…look at an ant.
Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two.
Nobody has to tell it what to do.
All summer it stores up food;
at harvest it stockpiles provisions."

Dave Ramsey is such an amazing encourager to people who wants to get out of debt and those who wants financial peace. I’ve not yet read his book but I saw one of his online video clips His lively and compelling views on financial wisdom will leave you feeling like there is really is hope for your financial situation no matter how bad it is. His principle is true that when we sacrifice now, we’ll have our reward tomorrow. But few are willing to sacrifice now. Instead they enjoy life….to the fullest. Instead they hold on to the quote that says: “eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow they will die. “ Poor decision.

God want us to have the good life he intends us to have. It’s just a matter of decisions and choices. God does not want us living in debt, broke…nor living merely just to get by. He wants an abundant life for his children. And getting the life he wants for us is not hard to achieve if we are willing to work on it…and sacrifice. Being practical is not bad. Spending wise is a plus. Saving for the rainy days is one good practice we should start. Be a good steward of the resources and blessings He entrusted us. Being spendthrift is one good point also.

I personally am encouraged to try Dave’s principles, specially the “Debt Snowball” process. It will be tough for me especially I’m just starting. But I know it’s just a matter of consistency, self-control and self-discipline. If we really want to live like no one else in order to live like no one else later, we should start doing what needs to be done today. We have to have the courage to take on the necessary steps if we want that life God wants us to have.

This week's IOW quote was chosen by Amy of In Pursuit of Proverbs 31. She has chosen a quote by Dave Ramsey.

Last minute details

Everything is ready for Saturday. I guess…because I think I don’t have to do a lot of preparation just like her first birthday. Everything will be taken cared of by KFC and the host I hired for Jaden’s party on Saturday. I did not prepare also souvenirs for adult guests and Jaden’s tarpaulin but I’m thinking if I’ll have one again….(well…remind my self to decide ASAP, it’s Tuesday already!)

Anyway, I’ll check the final guest list after doing my assignment about Orlando vacations. Those are just minor details anyway.

To Dos

My things to do today. I’ll list them here so I won’t forget:

1. Post for my Tuesday meme, “In Other Words” haven’t been posting for a month now. I hope I’ll be able to get the chance to do the post today. I owe the site a lot!
2. Confirm attendees for Saturday.
3. Burn more Cds. My writer is not so reliable on mass production. Hmpf!
4. Follow up check payment for our seminar speaker today.
5. Compare statement of account given to me versus my file. This should be handled accurately.
6. Write about North Carolina health insurance. Insurance again!

What else?…hmmmm

Sad Story

Everyone needs medical insurance... but unfortunately, not everyone can afford to get one. Just like what happened to my BIL’s sister. It saddens me to hear that his sister died on her bed. She was sick for one week. Her sister told us that she was vomiting for four days but they ignored it since they are told not to worry. They thought it’s not that serious. She was not rushed in the hospital. Nor were they able to buy her medicine…simply because they don’t have the money. When I heard that, it broke my heart. I wish I could've help in a way. If she only had the medical insurance….

Bangles

My sister gave me colorful bangles. Her officemate who just came from India gave her the sets and she was so generous to share it to her sisters. She let me choose those I like. Honestly, I like them all, I could have gotten everything! :D But I chose the silver and violet shades (from the lightest lavender to the super dark violet) which is presently my favorite color. I also like the shades of orange and gold bangles but I think I got enough already. I just love accessories that’s why! :D

Manic Monday

Do good things come to those who wait?
True. there are many instances that worse happen when a person rush on things. There is wisdom on waiting and blessings will come just like what Isiah 40:31 says.
Your best friend's spouse is being unfaithful. Would you tell your friend? If so, how?
Of course, if that will help their relationship. But it depends on my friend's attitude or point of view.
Which part of your body do you like the least? Would you change it through plastic surgery, if possible?
My built. I am petite and do not gain unnecessary weight. I'm beginning to like it now since I don't need slimming pills, liposuction or starve my self just to be fit :D

Join the fun here.

Memory Card

I was trying to get a mobile bible again. My phone already has a bible before but I delete it coz I need more space for images and videos (of Jaden). And I thought then I can replace it anyway anytime. I decided to buy memory card, a 1GB memory card for my phone just for that application. But the problem now is that my phone rejects the application whenever I install it and I don’t understand why. I’m planning to visit Nokia center this week to get some help. I found out also that when I replaced my old memory card, my phone rejects any application I install. That’s bad :(

Learning

I don’t know much about cars. I don’t even know how to drive one yet but there’s plan (which I hope won’t be forever a plan! :D) of going to a driving school... I hope soon. I also don’t know what’s the use of spoilers…the wing-like-thing you see over a car’s trunk. Honestly, I am so eager to learn new things and on top of my list is to learn how to drive and everything that goes with it, including car parts etc. I want to impress hubby when he comes back next year.

Her comfort toy

Ozzy's mom, Vannie gave me this tag. It brings me back to memory lane :)

Here are the rules:

Post a photo of your baby with her first ever favorite/comfort toy. Write some details of your fondest memory of your baby and her toy (like what I did below). This will make a good memento when your baby grows up!Lastly, before you pass this on to six (or more) mommies, don’t forget to add the link to your website/s at the end of the page. I’m sure many moms would love to see your sites, too!==================================================

When she was four months old, I bought a small and soft pink pillow for her. She began to love it since then. She can't sleep with out it and it even has a name! She calls it " Baby". I don't know why and when she gave the name. It doesn't even had any baby prints. It's printed with cute little piggies. Until now she's using it and he can't sleep without it. When she don't have it with her, she will look for it anywhere. I remember one time her yaya put it to the laundry basket she cried and put it back to our room. She hugs and kisses it and she even carries it with her sometimes when we go out. She just can't leave it whenever she sees it lying in the sofa.

I don't know if until what age will she use the pillow but one thing Im sure... it comforts her. :)

Not again...

I saw different kinds of luggage bags last week during the week end mall sale. Prices are discounted up to 50% and I almost bought one, if not with the thought of “where will I use it?”. I already have a luggage bag and hubby also have one. Sale is really enticing most of the time. It’s just good that I didn’t gave in to the urge of becoming an impulse buyer again, hehe :D

School Begins

My sister asks me to accompany her to buy her daughter’s school supplies this week end. School opening is coming near and more moms are going to be busy again buying and preparing their kids’ school things, like my sister. I remember when I was still in high school, I was so excited when school begins. I love the smell of my new bag, new note books and my different colored ink pens. I guess my niece and nephews are as excited as I was before. Hmmm...two years from now, I'll be a busy mom also come school opening :)

I've Learned

This is a 2nd version of the poem "I've Learned". The first is posted on my other blog. I want to share this to you as well....

I've learned -
that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I've learned -
that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.

I've learned -
that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.

I've learned -
that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.

I've learned -
that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes. After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned -
that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do,but to the best you can do.

I've learned -
that it's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.

I've learned -
that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned -
that no matter how thin you slice it,there are always two sides.

I've learned -
that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I've learned -
that it's a lot easier to react than it is to think.

I've learned -
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned -
that you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I've learned -
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I've learned -
that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I've learned -
that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

I've learned -
that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I've learned -
that learning to forgive takes practice.

I've learned -
that there are people who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it.

I've learned -
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned -
that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I've learned -
that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned -
that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I've learned -
that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I've learned -
that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, it doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned -
that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned -
that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish. Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would if they believed it.

I've learned -
that your family won't always be there for you. It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again. Families aren't biological.

I've learned -
that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned -
that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned -
that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I've learned -
that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned -
that sometimes when my friends fight, I'm forced to choose sides even when I don't want to.

I've learned -
that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other and just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.

I've learned -
that sometimes you have to put the individual ahead of their actions.

I've learned -
that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I've learned -
that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I've learned -
that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I've learned -
that no matter how you try to protect your children, they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.

I've learned -
that there are many ways of falling and staying in love.

I've learned -
that no matter the consequences, those who are honest with themselves get farther in life.

I've learned -
that no matter how many friends you have, if you are their pillar you will feel lonely and lost at the times you need them most.

I've learned -
that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I've learned -
that even when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

I've learned -
that writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains.

I've learned -
that the paradigm we live in is not all that is offered to us.

I've learned -
that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I've learned -
that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon.

I've learned -
that although the word "love"can have many different meanings, it loses value when overly used.

I've learned -
that it's hard to determine where to draw the line between being nice and not hurting people's feelings and standing up for what you believe.

Another plan

I checked with my sister and brother-in-law the state of our car. It’s been months since I last saw it. The last time was after my sister’s wedding. My brother-in-law informed me that he replaced a few car parts and did minor repairs on its engine. I need to check if it’s still on good condition because I’m planning to pursue my driving lesson next month and I need the car for my practice driving. I hope I’ll get this done this time.

On her growing up..

Jaden is really growing up...

  1. She already knows that we need to insert "iso" to the Kiddie rides at WOF (She thought the the token is a 1 peso coin)
  2. She can say "arap" (yummy) when eating food she likes and "ashim" (sour) or "amham" (spicy) to foods she doesn't like.
  3. She knows that a pandesal can be dipped in a coffee. :D
  4. She knows the actions of the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
  5. She knows how to call a tricycle -by waving her hands
  6. She knows that we need to pay "manong" when we get out of the tricycle. She is always the one giving the money to the driver.
  7. She can now identify, McDonalds from Jollibee
  8. She says "wiwi" when she needs to pee. I do not put diapers on her during the day so medyo tipid na ko sa diapers :D
  9. She also says "pupu" when she needs to.
  10. She already knows the different parts of her body like: eyes, ears, nose, lips, teeth, cheeks, hair, head, ears, neck, chin, armpit, hands, toes, feet, knees, and tummy.
  11. She always sings her ABC but she recites it like this: A, B, C, D, E, E, I..... H, I, J, K, M, M, N, O, P...... Q, R, S, T, U, V, X, I, Z :D.
  12. She is turning two on the 30th!

Last Sunday, I bought her a bike..nag-aaway kasi sila ng cousin niya and her cousin doesn't want to share her bike to I decided to buy her instantly.

I'm bad :(

Rare posts and updates because I've been busy...and not having my laptop in the house I could not blog at home or even blog hop.

But what kept me busy? I was preparing for Jaden's birthday which is on May 31st. I coordinated a friend's wedding which turned out a success. I was busy participating in church activities. And a lot of things... Last week, I am sooo preoccupied. And I'm guilty of not having enough time to bond with my daughter :( And like Kitts, guilty also of ignoring her and dropping her like a pup when she starts whining and screaming and getting overly clingy. And being a busy mom that I am sometimes, my patience is cut short. :(

Last night she was overly clingy again and she was crying and yelling and whining. I am so sleepy but she doesn't want me to sleep. So when I could no longer hold my temper, I tried to ignore her, gave her to her nanny...and pretend that I cannot hear her. I went inside our room but she cried even harder. Hindi ko din naman matiis to hear her cry so I get her from her nanny and tried calming and putting her to sleep. It was hard and I know I owe her a lot of apology :(

Mommastuff Questions Week 3 - Kid’s Names

Nice already posted this week's question and here it goes:

What are the names of your kids? Who picked them? Any significance of
that name/s?

When we discover that we're pregnant, I had a deep feeling that it's going to be a girl eventhough we haven't had an ultrasound yet. So we already thought of what to name her. I was specifically searching names starting with J and M (our initials) that relates on blessing or God's answer to prayers.

I found JADEN- it's a Hebrew name which means God has heard. So I picked this for hubby's initial. When I was searching for a name that starts with an M, it was kinda hard.... hubby wanted her to be named after his niece, which is Mikaela. I gave in but since I don't want to name her exactly like his niece. I changed the spelling and came out with Meekaila, which contain the word "meek", a positive character that we want her to posses.

We both agreed with the names so that's it. Her name is Jaden Meekaila and we call her Jaden or Meek.

This is Me - Today

Batang Batibot :)

Napapagusap ngayon sa n@w ang tagalog nursery rhymes. Deep inside I'm glad that a lot of us are willing pa rin to teach our children our own children songs. Nakakalungkot kasi I've watched an episode of Singing Bee in ch.2 where they invited the kids of Going Bulilit as their contestants. Many of the children don't know our own nursery rhymes like Bahay Kubo and Leron Leron Sinta.*sigh*

Kaya ako, I see to it that my daughter knows some of our tagalog songs. And I observed, she loves them more than the foreign nursery rhymes. She knows twinkle, twinkle little star, itsy bitsy spider, Barney's I love you and many other english songs but she also loves Bahay Kubo, Pen Pen De Sarapen, Maliliit na Gagamba and Tong, Tong Pakitong-kitong - her most favorite because of the hand actions.

I don't want her to grow forgetting about our culture kasi and think more western. Of course maganda na our children are speaking and learning english to be competitive when they grow but for me, it's also good that our children knows our own culture.

Haay...as I was reading the thread in n@w it brings back childhood memories. Batang Batibot din kasi ako :D and I want to pass it on to my child.

Summer's over :(

It seems that summer is almost over. It started raining in April and now almost every afternoon the sky is dark and rain shower’s pouring. Sigh…and we haven’t had our family outing yet. I haven’t had my fill of summer yet! I’m not able to wear my swim wear and the vintage sunglasses I got from a very good friend. Sigh… Does it mean I’ll wait for next summer? :D

Nice try :)

I think I’ve written enough about drug treatment center here on my blog but I still get opps about it. I cannot think anymore of ways or ideas to write about this topic so now that I got this again, I’m really thinking hard how to compose something so I end up doing this post. Nice try huh? :D But I hope that this will be accepted.

Best Buy

Being a practical person that I am, I see to it that I always got the best buy. For me, not because the item is costly it’s always the best. Well, some costly things really are but sometimes, we cannot just rely on that thought. We can always find some things of the best quality but at lower prices if you are a very intuitive and wise buyer. How to become a wise buyer? Observe, ask, compare, and research. I think these are some of the things we should do before exercising our buying powers :D.

Sticky Post: Mommastuff Question Week2

This is quite a late response to the question but I'll post pa rint o join Nice's Sticky Post :)

This week's question: Do you have routines for your kids? Care to share? Does it really help?

I think routines with your kids really helps in developing and shaping their future.

So here are some of our routines:

I usually wake up at 6am, take a bath and prepare to work. If Jaden will wake up before me leaving, we'll have a little time of bonding and cuddling.
We'll go then to my parents house para malibang siya so that she won't cry when I leave. She and her yaya will stay there for 30minutes to 1hr. She'll play with her cousin.
They will go home and she'll play or watch Barney for an hour then at 9 or 10am she'll take a bath.
When I arrive in the office, I'll fix my things first then I'll call home to talk to her.

When I arrive naman from work, we'll have some bonding moments again before dinner. We dine sa dinner table. So she knows that after her yaya sets the table we need to sit down and eat na.

We'll pray first before eating. It's good though that she knows na how to clasp her hands although her eyes are open. :D

After dinner we'll have our brushing time. She holds her own toothbrush kasi ayaw niya magpa brush ng teeth. And everytime she'll say "Amham" (Anghang) :D kahit hindi naman ganun ang taste ng toothpaste niya.

After that we'll watch one TV show. After ng show I'll fix our bed then we'll have a little cuddling and we pray before going to bed. She usually sleeps at 10pm.

I think as early as now it's important to that we have routine like this para she'll remember it and maging habit niya as she grows. I teach her the importance of prayer, saying thank you, sorry, and excuse me and now she's learning and she says it when situation calls.

at My Playroom

Last Saturday was my daughter's 2nd day in her Kindermusik class. The activities were just the same though they learned new animal, the seal :). We also got her take home materials ( a cd, a book, a poster and a musical instrument).

After her class, we went to Megamall (kahit maraming tao dahil sale :P) I need to return and replace a Hello Kitty blouse, an advance birthday gift from her Tita Lilet. Medyo masikip kasi sa kanya so I got her the one twice bigger. Medyo malaki kasi si Jaden sa age niya so size 2 is small pala :D.

And because maraming tao dahil nga sale, I dropped her to My Playroom muna so I can go with my business free from carrying her along...ang bigat kaya niya! She was with her yaya. Kahit super pagod na sa Kindermusik, nag enjoy pa rin siya sa playroom... dami kasing toys :D. She love the slides and the bikes which reminds me to buy her one on her birthday as my gift.

She also loves the colorful balls and of course the play house. Sabi ng yaya niya gustong-gusto daw makipag- hide and seek!

After 30 minutes, sinundo ko na sila. I think she had her fill of the toys naman kasi pagkakita niya sakin outside the playroom gusto na lumabas. We then went to Wendy's to have our dinner.

That was one super tiring but enjoying day I had with my daughter. And because hindi siya natulog before her class, knocked out siya when we got home :D
