The Cons of Renting

Ever since we left our house to my eldest sister, my parents started renting. I was still single when we first moved in a rented apartment. And moving from one place to another is one thing I really don’t like doing. It’s just a good thing that when we moved, we didn’t have to get the services of long distance movers. We just rented a truck and the place is also near our old house. Moving from one place to another, packing and unpacking, is a tedious job. That’s why if you really have the opportunity to get your own house, go and get one. It’s an achievement if you can have a house you can really call your own.

My 3 year old daughter knows how to escape from getting embarrassed. One night, as I was in the room reading a book she entered in and went straight to the dresser. She was combing her hair while enjoying her image on the mirror. At the corner of my eyes, I was observing her. Hindi ako nagpahalata na I was looking. She suddenly dropped her plastic comb. She turned to face me while accidentally stepping on the comb so you'll guess what happened. Nadulas siya, as in split talaga. What's funny was in an instant she burst out: "AY!...... HAPPINESS!!" sabay tawa. lol!

If you're familiar with Kim Chiu's commercial, I think it's Enervon, where she practice splits to get into the sale first, you'll understand what I'm saying. Nakakatuwa lang kasi instead of bursting into tears with what happened to her, she made a way out of it. Happiness talaga! hehehe! :)

Fasting?

...Oooppss.....it's Fastin, alright. I learned that Fastin is a dietary supplement. In short a diet pill. Hmmm...why is it called as such? Perhaps it means fast-thin, or you’ll lose weight fast. Anyway, I don’t need it yet. Perhaps if I’ll gain weight during my pregnancy and if by chance I’ll get a hard time getting back to my normal weight. But I hope I won’t get so huge this time that’s why as early as now, I’m conscious with my eating habit. I hope getting back in shape won’t be my future problem.

Lucky? Blessed!

I’m a person who doesn’t have any luck on raffles. And I don't really believe so much in "luck". I call it "blessing". I usually get raffle tickets when I buy groceries or items on my favorite shop or drugstores, but I don’t have any experience of being called to be informed that I won something out of those raffles. But not my friend. Just two days ago, he told me that he is filing a half day leave because he will be claiming a cash prize that he won with his oatmeal purchase. He has already won great items in raffles and coupons. Last year he won one of the ipods that were given away from a training that he attended. He also won the bid of a beautiful sofa just last week. Yesterday, he’s collecting funds from colleagues to try their luck in the lottery. If he wins any prize in the lottery, there will be no doubt… He’s one blessed man!

Thankful Thursday: God is Able

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."
~2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

The fast four months that the husband is here without work, our finances is affected. The family depends only with what I received every payday. Compare to what we have when he was still working, it's way different. We are now on a scrimping mode. The house that we intend to get from HDMF is also affected. Until now, we can't transfer because of that. But amidst all these, we are still thankful that God never leaves us.

• He is giving us enough provision to sustain us.
• He is always there to meet our needs. Small miracles do happen. A need is met when we least expect it. He is always on time.
• I'm thankful for the joy of having the husband's presence. The happiness of my daughter being with her dad cannot be bought buy money.
• I'm thankful that there are some other things I can do to help earn extra and when I pray to give me enough tasks, it's always an answered prayer.

God is really good! And so I'll quote...

1 Chronicles 29:11-13(KJV)

"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.

Guilty.

Jaden is already 3.3 yo but we are still experiencing separation anxiety and the guilt that comes with it...

Yesterday she woke up early, just when I was preparing for work. Maybe because she's sick she isn't comfortable. When she saw me on my office uniform, she cried and wanted me to give her a bath. I refused since her temperature is still high (at 38.5). Nothing I said stopped her from crying. She really wanted to take a bath so she can come with me to the office. When I finally told her that I'll just give her a sponge bath so she can dress up, she agreed.

She was so excited when we finally left the house. When she noticed that we're heading to my parent's house, she asked why we we're going there. I just told her that I have to pick up something. She had no idea that she will not come with me but will just be dropped off to my parent's house. When we enter the house, I told my mom to get her attention so I can rush out. I felt sad upon leaving her there.

I hate the feeling that I can't be with her the whole day, especially when she's sick. I really feel the guilt of not being there to take care of her. But I guess, this is one of the consequences of being a working mom. :(

I Am a 'Kept ' Woman

A Man With A Good Heart?

My brother in law and my nephew had an accident two days ago. My brother in law fetched my nephew from school with a motorcycle. They were already in front of the house’s gate when from nowhere a motorcycle just appear from behind them and bumped into them. Both of them were injured but my brother in law got the worst bruises. His motorcycle’s side flaps were also damaged. Fortunately my nephew only got small wound on his ankle. He would like to file a complaint from the local police station but he also sympathized with the teenage driver. His complaint might get the teenager be detained in jail because of what he did. My brother in law just talked to the teenager’s parents and asks for medical assistance and financial assistance for the repair of his motorcycle. If he was just that bad he would not let that accident passed like those who even got the service of a Seattle personal injury lawyer. But being a good person that he is, he looked on both sides. Two days had passed and his bruises are much better now. I just hope that he will be given the financial assistance that he claims.

Prevention is better than cure.

Many popular persons in the country died of colon cancer. The recent was the former President Cory Aquino. From the time the news spread that she got the cancer, there was something in me that says she won’t last long. Some says no one have ever survived colon cancer. Sometimes, it was already in its 4th stage when the cancer is detected.

Colon cancer is the third most common form of cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the world. That’s why the world today should be more health conscious and take the necessary precautions. Prevention is better than cure that's why colon cleanser is now a very popular product for cleansing and detoxification. There are many colon cleansing products that are available but consumers should be wise enough to read all the available colon cleanse reviews to avoid being scammed. There are a lot of companies out there that claims to be the best. So we should be wise and cautious. Be healthy but be wise as well.

Rain, rain, go away!

While in some parts of the world people are marching their way to Myrtle beach vacation rentals, here in the Philippines, rain is pouring every now and then. It’s the rainy season and sometimes the weather is unpredictable. It will be a sunny morning, then a stormy, afternoon. During times like this, we have to be ready, keeping an umbrella always handy. While I’m writing this, the sky turned gloomy. I hope it won’t rain until I get home. It's the season that I don't really like, but as they say, life should be balance.

Maybe next year...

My birthday and our anniversary were over and sad to say we didn’t celebrate as planned. There’s no romantic cancun vacation, nor any travel destination as such. A lot of circumstances arrived that were out of our control. Aside from that, baby#2 arrived so we really have to save. Hubby said there will be a time for a vacation but not until I gave birth since for now, I am not advice to travel. And since I’ll have two and a half month leave, next year will be our target. I feel excited already. I need a break from the pressures at work and I guess relaxing white-sand beaches experience will be great.

We're thankful, we're covered.

One of our company’s benefits that I’m thankful I have is our health insurance (HMO). Like the Blue Cross North Carolina, our HMO provider also gives us health coverage that are very useful to us employees. My whole family is covered and with that I’m thankful. Every time my daughter got sick and needed hospital care, we can always depend on it. We just don’t have maternity and dental coverage but still having an HMO card is one of the things that I’m grateful to have.

Lunch Time

Every lunch time, my office mates and I usually had some sharing session. This is one of the things I love about my colleagues here. We’ve develop friendship already that we can almost talk about anything when we have time like during lunch. Awhile ago, while we’re taking our lunch, we talked about the event yesterday. Then one of my office mate shared memories of his younger years. The hardships he went through from taking care of their livestock (making sure they have enough cattle supplies) down to the times he suffered working while studying. Some of my office mates joked that his story can be featured at “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, a local drama anthology running for 18 years already, hehe! Anyway, we had a wonderful discussion. Lunch time in the office especially if the bosses are not around is a time we all look forward to everyday

Still not showing....

To count, I’m already nine weeks and 4 days pregnant but my tummy is still not showing when I wear my uniform but at home, I can already see a bulge. My office mates often joke that compared to them, they are the ones who can be thought of as pregnant because of their bulging tummies, lol! They look more preggy than me. I told them they should consider taking diet pills, haha! Anyway, I can still fit in my clothes but maybe after two weeks or so, I’ll be needing to wear more comfortable clothes. Time to take out my maternity clothes again from the closet. I just hope I won’t get so big so I won’t have a hard time losing the pregnancy weight I’ll gain.

The Last Farewell

She was finally laid to rest yesterday in a simple white tomb next to her husband, Ninoy. The beloved former President Corazon Aquino was laid to her final rest with military honours after her 5 days public funeral.

President Arroyo declared yesterday a holiday so that the nation can pay their last respect to the former president. I was watching the live telecast of the last mass until she was transferred from Manila Cathedral to the Manila Memorial Park. During the mass her youngest daughter Kris, delivered a speech that really made me cry. I was just 8 years old during the time of the first People Power and was not that fully aware of it's impact during that time. But yesterday, I felt really different. After reading articles about her life, she was indeed the person who restored Philippine democracy. Now, I understand why the people who joined the EDSA 1 who were also some of the people who marched the streets, braving the rain yesterday just to see her casket, gave her so much love and respect.

Thousands of people, wearing yellow shirts and flashing the "L" signs with their hands marched with the truck carrying her remains. There were also thousands waiting at the Manila Memorial Park since morning. The procession left the cathedral at11:30am and arrived at the cemetary at 7:30pm, almost nine hours of travel. While watching, I couldn't help but feel sad, but proud to be a Filipino, specially when the songs like Magkaisa (Sung by Sarah G.), Handog ng Pilipino (Sung by all the artist with the APO HS), and the Bayan Ko (sung by Leah Salonga) were sung. Ysterday was really a historical day.

I felt sad. I know her family feel the same but with the highest intesity. She's really gone now, but she will be remembered deeply.

My School Girl.

It's been long since I post an update here about my daughter. Well, she's now attending school and today until Monday is her first quarter exams.

While watching Cory's funeral yesterday, I was also reviewing my daughter for her exams. There are lots of review items and I'm really thinking if she can handle the exams well. Jaden is a fast learner but her hand coordination still needs some improvement (she once colored one of her seatwork and my, you might think its one kind of Halloween invitations, lol!), so I really have to be patient with her. Though she impresses me when I asks her to recite her 3 memory verses and her 3 rhymes that are part of her exams. I've no problem with her recitations, I worry about her comprehension and her writing skills.

Anyway, I hope I've reviewed her enough. We'll see when we got her exam results next week. I really hope that she pass. :D

Goodbye Cory.

Former President Corazon Aquino died last Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at 3:18 am. She died fighting colon cancer.

I was able to watched Kris Aquino's (her youngest daughter) detailed narration of her mom's last days on The Buzz last Sunday and my mom and I went teary eyed.

Her convoy yesterday was joined by thousands of people. Prominent people like president and COO, Fernando Zobel de Ayala was also seen among the crowd. I was able to watched the live streaming of the procession through her website coryaquino.ph.

Cory has been tagged as the Philippine's Mother of Democracy. As the 11th president of the Philippines, she touched every Filipino's hearts in such a remarkable way. She now bade farewell to us but her memory will live on.
