The Normal Life?

With my current work schedule now, I must say that I do get less sleep. I do get eye bags but what I like about this is that I can have time to bond with my kids during the day. I was actually being offered a job on material handling for a realty company but after several contemplation, I declined the offer because the only benefit I can see is that I can have a normal day life…working from 8 to 5pm. Maybe I was able to get used to night shifts that I was able to accept the things that are good about this. I don’t know if I will be able to return to my old work schedule, maybe if another offer would be there for me to grab.

 

Unclear

My brother in law who works in a hospital laboratory asked my sister to look for discount scrubs from Marcus. He needs additional scrub suits to be use at work since the hospital has not provided them enough. I don’t understand why, I know that hospitals should be the one to provided uniforms for their staffs right? So I can’t take this info from my sister. She asked my help so we can order online and send it back when my husband returns on June. I told her to tell her husband that things like this should be verified with their managers.

I Miss Them

I just got back from visiting my former office mates. I miss them, and I know they miss me too because they want me to join them for lunch. But I was notable to join since I already promised my friend that I will treat her to lunch. Hay, I really miss our happy and funny conversation during lunch, although most of them, especially the guys, would throw green jokes and would even make the best male enhancement topic sound funny. Sometimes these topics make me feel uncomfortable but what I really miss is the fun we had. Anyway, I’ll just keep in touch and hopefully, they won’t really forget me.

Relaxing

Another vi.sualize.us photo which I found funny, hehe! Well this is just to light my mood. Company issues is getting on my nerves already and I can't seem to see a bright future ahead. Some office mates are already complaining about this and that and all I can say to them is that, they have a choice. Haay.... I pray that somehow, our sentiments will be heard.

Wish

Right now, everyone's seems busy looking out for their gifts to their babies. We'll be having our last general assembly for the year tomorrow and it would also be a mini early Christmas celebration. The committee prepared a program and that includes the Kris-Kringle (gift-giving) with matching wish list so everyone now is busy to grant everyone's wishes. As for me, I could have wish for a Personalized Jewelry but I don't want to put pressure to my mommy/daddy, who ever he/she is so I made my wish easy to look for and within the allotted budget. I just hope that I'll received what I wished for.

Lunch Time

Every lunch time, my office mates and I usually had some sharing session. This is one of the things I love about my colleagues here. We’ve develop friendship already that we can almost talk about anything when we have time like during lunch. Awhile ago, while we’re taking our lunch, we talked about the event yesterday. Then one of my office mate shared memories of his younger years. The hardships he went through from taking care of their livestock (making sure they have enough cattle supplies) down to the times he suffered working while studying. Some of my office mates joked that his story can be featured at “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, a local drama anthology running for 18 years already, hehe! Anyway, we had a wonderful discussion. Lunch time in the office especially if the bosses are not around is a time we all look forward to everyday

Brain Drain

I was offline almost whole day today. We had our ROY planning at Astoria Plaza. We had no access to their wifi so I was not able to go online. The meeting was brain draining. We are supposed to end at 5pm but some presenter went over their time. Tomorrow, I will be attending our band rehearsal at 6pm and I want to sleep early. I hope tomorrow's meeting will end on time.

180 less 60=120 days

The 180 days challenge as I mentioned last time has finally taken off. But because of some employee concerns the challenge was shortened to 120 days, roughly 4 months. For now our participating employees are still on a smug. They say they will have their normal eating habit until the day of the weigh-in. After that, they will have to undergo through the strict training, diet and exercise. I hope they won’t have to consider taking the best appetite suppressant. Lots of self-control and discipline are all they need to pass this challenge. All the best for them.

180 Days Challenge

Our company is once again participating in the fitness challenge under our family of companies. But this time, it’s no longer 80 days but a hundred and eighty days! Whoah!

Selected employees will be joining this event that includes not only the obese but also those overweight. They are now preparing themselves, planning what to do including the types of exercises they will take and proper diet. I don’t think they will be looking for the best diet pills because the challenge is to lose weight naturally. I hope my colleagues will be able to passed this challenge and hopefully win some title. All the best for them!

Issues

There were issues here in the office which brought about the release of a memo from our president which reiterates business ethics. I don’t know the whole story but as I see it, it concerns some employees and their relationships with their suppliers. I don’t know a lot about purchasing, suppliers and material handling and I don’t belong in a department that deals a lot on these either. But I feel for those employees who were affected. Haaay…there will be always be company issues that we can't avoid sometimes.

Inventory

I was busy doing some inventory of the medicines that the New York doctors sent last month. Our company is partnering with them for a three day medical mission and since the meds were sent to us, we are responsible to check them before delivering them to the hospital. So yesterday, I was swamped with counting each and every packs of medicine, and baffled over the different names ending in “-ine” and “-in”. Some co-employees who saw me asked if there are fat burners available, unfortunately, the meds only includes multivitamins and some generics, no Apidexin or the like. Anyway, these meds will be given free to indigents patients of San Juan who will join the medical mission which will begin on Monday…so I’ll be busy again for three days. Expect a M-I-A me again..haha!

Done.

One down, one to go..I'm talking about our corporate Christmas activities. We're done with the last general assembly a while ago. It was fun though there have been minor glitches, the committee were able to manage the program.

Next week will be the final program.."Mas madugo". Need to finish everything before Monday and will look for my costume pa. Kaka-stress!! :D hehe.

We're going to sell...

I just recently learned that Lenovo Thinkpad refers to IBM. I learned it from my IT officemate. Our IT is now into marketing several computer products plus our OWN brand of computers.

And speaking of our own brand, last Friday, our president highlighted from his speech during our general assembly that ALL employees should help sell it. That means each of us should be able to sell at least one computer/laptop on the coming days! Sigh…

Thinking Positive

During our 2-day business planning last week, our IT Department introduced exciting products which they plan to market over the coming days. We’ve already started our own line of computer products (especially laptops) which kinda excite me to purchase one for my self. They’ve also introduced video conferencing system, network system which will allow a business to save from purchasing a number of computers, 3D software and others. Another department also emphasized the edge of our CCTV system. I think this product can be categorized in one of those gps fleet tracking systems.

I just hope that these business developments will materials and will hit and penetrate the market. We all want to end the year positive so I’m helping through prayers.

Oh by the way, our lap tops are practically priced and very much competetive so if you're iterested, message me :D

So-so

I didn’t get enough sleep last night I feel like taking a leave but I know I can’t since I’m going have a busy day today:

1. I need to finalized the Board Presentation for the Board meeting later
2. Look for a frame at the nearby department store
3. Buy office supplies like, blank CDs, mouse pad, sliding plastic folder and Papermate pens.
4. After office, I need to buy some groceries and ingredients of baked mac which I’m planning to prepare for our church musicians tomorrow. They kept on telling me to treat them…sigh..

I am also thankful that the sheriff has given me extra assignments today. I hope I’ll had a very good day today despite the load.

This was really for me

Our company is into telecoms. It’s my first time to work in this industry so during my first month I remember I was very inquisitive and curious about our products and services. It was my first time to encounter words like coax cables, station protectors, satellite modems, patch panels, etc. I had frequent visits on our company’s websites to further gain understanding on what our company is really doing. And since then my vocabulary on telecoms term was broaden.

I was really glad to have worked here. On August, this year I’ll reach my 4th year anniversary. I was telling my self how glad I am to have work on a company longer than a year and a half….:D

Know Thyself

I got this from an email this morning and decided to share it to you...

You have to be, before you do, to have lasting inner peace. In other words, making a living is not the same as making a life. Find what makes your heart sing and create your own music.

Many people work all their lives and dislike what they do for a living. In fact, I was astounded to see a recent USA Today survey that said fifty-three percent of people in the American workplace are unhappy with their jobs. Loving what you do is one of the most important keys to maintaining a positive attitude. You can’t fake passion. It is the fuel that drives any dream and makes you happy to be alive. However, to love what you do, the first step is to self-analyze, to simply know what you love. We all have unique talents and interests, and one of life’s greatest challenges is to match these talents with career opportunities that bring out the best in us. It’s not easy –
and sometimes we can only find it through trial and error – but it’s worth the
effort.

Ray Kroc, for example, found his passion when he founded McDonalds at the age of 52. He never “worked” another day in his life.

John James Audubon was unsuccessful for most of his life. He was a terrible businessman. No matter how many times he changed locations, changed partners, or changed businesses, he still failed miserably.

Not until he understood that he must change himself did he have any shot at success.

And what changes did Audubon make? He followed his passion. He always had loved the outdoors and was an excellent hunter. In addition, he was a good artist and as a hobby would draw local birds.

Once he stopped trying to be a businessman and started doing what he loved to do, his life turned around. He traveled the country observing and drawing birds, and his art ultimately was collected in a book titled, Audubon’s Birds of America. The book earned him a place in history as the greatest wildlife artist ever. But more importantly, the work made him happy and provided the peace of mind he’d been seeking all his life.

How do you find your purpose in life? There are no easy answers, but here are two practical tips that can help:

1. Discover Your Gifts – We’re all unique and each of us has our own special gifts. Make a list of what you consider your strengths and your weaknesses. Next, don’t just assume your assumptions are correct. Get feedback from what Ken Blanchard calls “trusted truth-tellers” – friends and family members who won’t just tell you what you want to hear but who will share their true opinions. With their help you can get a realistic perspective of your gifts.

2.Discover What Moves You – Find your passion and strive to live your life around it. Make your list. Do your homework. There is this caution, however...have patience. Your purpose in life probably won’t surface overnight, but like love, it will find you when you least expect it.

Finding your reason for being brings a positive attitude that can be unstoppable.

Yesterday..

I asked my colleague to come with me to the mall as I was asked to look for a gift to one of our Board member. I find it hard to look for something by myself. It’s hard to think of something for a person holding a significant corporate position. Good thing, his assistant gave me some suggestions. We went to some sports house and boutiques since she suggested something that can be use when he goes to the gym or working out. We saw a number of strength equipment and sports gear but we opted to buy a gym shirt. Whew..one task accomplished! :D

Business Planning

We’ve just had our company’s two-day business planning last Thursday and Friday. It was one of our company’s initiative for its corporate performance management. We’ve discussed plans for each department but unlike the previous years where we only plan for the next year, this time we discussed each department’s plans for the next five years. Which is really good because the company is widening it’s vision.

I just hope for the best for our company and of course on top of this, I’m praying for each plans to succeed. Being part of it, I can see it as my duty to continuously pray for the company where I work.

Thank God

I had a not so good Monday. First day of the working week and I was dressed down for such unreasonable matters.

Issues at work lately have been dragging my spirit down…it’s hard when all the good things you’ve done, all the things you’ve contributed in the past, will just be overtaken by mistakes…those were retained, good deeds forgotten forever. Now, it seems that the focus are the next blunder or nonachievement I’ll make…*Sigh*... It’s hard to defend yourself especially when you know that issues about you has been spreading around making you the subject of chit-chats. Can’t help but feel dismayed. Honestly what’s happening now was really depressing…making me think of redirecting my path...(But I’m still consulting God for that) Thank God, though, He’s joy continually fills me…still, God’s giving me reasons to smile everyday and still come to work. Hubby has been very encouraging as always...explaining to me the two sides of the coin. Though he’s far, he never fails to lift up my spirit when I’m down in the dumps. My daughter has been giving me the joy I need. Every time I got home and she just hug me, show those twinkling eyes, and kisses me, all the toxics of the day are being instantly washed out. With these things, I’m thankful.

God is really GOOD.
