I’m currently reading a book about our national hero, Dr. José Rizal. It’s called the First Filipino and the stories that were being told in the book are really surprising. Most of the facts have not been taught in school. I’ve learned new things about Rizal that were really interesting. We’ve known him as being the first eye surgeon in the country, having operated his mom from her cataract. Don’t you know that aside from this, there were even more facts that has been kept hidden from us? The truth behind his points of view regarding the “himagsikan”, the stories behind his travels, his family, the truth about his faith, and more. I think this book should be the new reference book in our school whether high school or college in studying about Rizal’s works and biography. Students will learn a lot and not just know him as the one being printed the face of a one peso coin.
