Thankful Thursday: God's Rightenousness

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread" (Ps. 37:25)
I've been contemplating on these verse lately...
  • "...not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith." -- (Philippians 3:9)
  • "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree" (Ps. 92:12).
  • "When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth" (Prov. 11:10).
  • "The seed of the righteous shall be delivered" (Prov. 11:21).
  • "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers" (1 Pet. 3:12).
  • "For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield" (Ps. 5:12).
  • "The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles" (Ps. 34:17).
  • "The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein forever" (Ps. 37:29).
  • "The Lord loveth the righteous" (Ps. 146:8).
And I promised my self to become God's righteousness. To think, speak, and live in His righteousness.

  • I'm thankful for the Word that convicts when there are things that I do that do not conform with God's righteousness.
  • I'm thankful for God provision. This week, He had provided what is enough for the day and gave it on time.
  • I'm thankful for friends who trust me to pray for them and for the opportunity to really pray for them as well.
  • I'm thankful for Worship Shed Session that I'm attending every last Monday of the month. It equips me to become an effective worship leader/worshiper.

More thankful Thursday entries here.

Manic Monday #152

What gives you hope?

~ God's promises

How often do you get your haircut? Describe your worst haircut.
~ When I feel that it's getting too long. I maintain at least below shoulder length hair. The worst haircut was one time in my high school days. Also the first time that I went to a salon to have a haircut because since I was a child my father was the one trimming my hair. My first salon visit was the worst...and I can't describe it, haha! :D

What's your most treasured piece of jewelry? Why?
~My wedding ring. Because it keeps me reminded of our wedding day and our promises with each other.

I'm loving coffee now.

Since I attended our church, I started to like drinking coffee, but not the instant. I love the fresh brewed coffee. Every morning, our church sets up a coffee area at the lobby where people can have coffee first before the service starts. They use nespresso to brew the coffee. The people like it. I’m really not a coffee drinker but since then, I started to wish for a nespresso too or a coffeemaker. Like the one in the picture.

I promised my self that I’ll buy one if not next month, before we settle in our new house.
Studies proved that coffee is a great antioxidant, so I’m loving coffee now.

Thankful Thursday: God's Assurance

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God whose word I praise,
In God I trust; I shall not be afraid.. Psalm 56:3-4

These past few days my husband and I had serious talks whether he'll renew his contract or file an exit visa. And whenever we talk about it, it seems an endless discussion. We really don't know what lies in the future and that's what I'm telling my husband. We can only trust in God. For this week, these are the things that I'm thankful for:

  1. I'm thankful for my sister who's always there to give sound advises. She can always help me clear my mind.
  2. I'm thankful for the songs that I am studying for the Sunday service. The messages of these songs strengthens my faith and helps me to be reminded that God is in control. "I will be still and know, you are God"
  3. Thankful for my daughter. She had no idea about what me and her dad is doing but whenever I see her, I am always reminded of God's faithfulness and goodness in our family.
  4. Thankful for Milet's help on hosting my new domain. It's not up yet for some reason but I know God had other plans why I need to wait 60 days more. Milet is such a great online friend who's ready to help in whatever ways she can. She's a blessing! :)

Gifts

Last Christmas was fun and it also left me an empty wallet, hahaha! I didn't buy something for my self except for the Belle de Jour planner which I love using everyday. But here are some gifts I received that made me happy.

  1. A Going Straight Salon gift card from my sister. I'll use it after three months because I just had my hair rebonded. Maybe I'll use it for a hair color.
  2. A bag from my "monito". He gave me a bag that is higher than the agreed price of our "kris-kringle". I love the bag and I use it everyday.
  3. An apple green pouch for special occasion courtesy of one of my bosses.
  4. A white tee from another boss and a cellphone pouch from my friend-officemate.
Hubby didn't send me his gift. He said he'll just bring it when he comes home. I'm excited because he said he bought me a pair of gold earrings. :) I can't wait for April!

"HOPE" is my word

I love this test...you can try too and see what your word is.

Your Word is "Hope"

You see life as an opportunity for learning, growth, and bringing out the best in others.

No matter how bad things get, you always have at least a glimmer of optimism.

You are accepting and forgiving. You encourage those who have wronged you to turn over a new leaf.

And while there is a lot of ugliness in the world, you believe that almost no one is beyond redemption.

Way Back...

I have no idea where this article originaly came from but I'd liek to post it here as it is very true. A generation that was..

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE

1950’s, 60′ s, 70’s and early 80’s !!

First, some of us survived being born to mothers who did not have an OB-Gyne and drank San Miguel Beer while they carried us.

While pregnant, they took cold or cough medicine, ate isaw, and didn’t worry about diabetes.

Then after all that trauma, our baby cribs were made of hard wood covered with lead-based paints, pati na yung walker natin, matigas na kahoy din at wala pang gulong.

We had no soft cushy cribs that play music, no disposable diapers (lampin lang), and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, no kneepads , sometimes wala pang preno yung bisikleta.

As children, we would ride in hot un-airconditioned buses with wooden seats (yung JD bus na pula), or cars with no airconditioning & no seat belts (ngayon lahat may aircon na)

Riding on the back of a carabao on a breezy summer day was considered a treat. (ngayon hindi na nakakakita ng kalabaw ang mga bata)

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle purchased from 711 ( minsan straight from the faucet or poso)

We shared one soft drink bottle with four of our friends, and NO ONE actually died from this. Or contacted hepatitis.

We ate rice with star margarine, ate raw eggs straight from the shell, and drank softdrinks with real sugar in it (hindi diet coke), but we weren’t sick or overweight kasi nga……

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, and get back when the streetlights came on. Sarap mag patintero, tumbang preso , habulan at taguan. (even make spider trap to play spider race)

No one was able to reach us all day ( di uso ang cellphone , walang beepers ) . And yes, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our wooden trolleys (yung bearing ang gulong) or plywood slides out of scraps and then ride down the street , only to find out we forgot the brakes! After hitting the sidewalk or falling into a canal (sewerage channel) a few times, we learned to solve the problem ourselves with our bare & dirty hands .

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 100 channels on cable, no DVD movies, no surround stereo, no IPOD’s, no cell phones, no computers, no Internet, no chat rooms, and no Friendsters and blogging...

. …………WE HAD REAL FRIENDS and we went outside to actually talk and play with them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broken bones and teeth and there were no stupid lawsuits from these accidents. The only rubbing we get is from our friends with the words..masakit ba ? pero pag galit yung kalaro mo,,,,ang sasabihin sa iyo..beh buti nga !

We played marbles (jolens) in the dirt , washed our hands just a little and ate dirty ice cream & fish balls. we were not afraid of getting germs in our stomachs.

We had to live with homemade guns ‘ gawa sa kahoy, tinali ng rubberband , sumpit , tirador at kung ano ano pa na puedeng makasakitan. .pero masaya pa rin ang lahat.

We made up games with sticks ( syatong ), and cans ( tumbang preso )and although we were told they were dangerous, wala naman tayong binulag o napatay.paminsan minsan may nabubukulan lang.

We walked, rode bikes, or took tricycles to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them to jump out the window!

Mini basketball teams had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t pass had to learn to deal with the disappointment. Wala yang mga childhood depression at damaged self esteem ek-ek na yan. Ang pikon, talo.

Ang magulang ay nandoon lang para tignan kung ayos lang ang mga bata, hindi para makialam at makipag-away sa ibang parents.

That generation of ours has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, creative thinkers and successful professionals ever! They are the CEO’s, Engineers, Doctors and Military Generals of today.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had failure, success, and responsibility. We learned from our mistakes the hard way.

You might want to share this with others who’ve had the luck to grow up as real kids. We were lucky indeed.

And if you like, forward it to your kids too, so they will know how brave their parents were..

It kind of makes you wanna go out and climb a tree, doesn’t it?!

PS - The big letters are because your eyes may not be able to read this if they were typed any smaller (at your age).

My Little Shopper

Here’s my little lady while we are buying some groceries last Saturday. She didn’t want mommy to help her push that little cart so I let her. And she actually enjoyed it. Buti na lang there's a small cart for little shoppers like her, hehehe!

Business Idea?

Double our earnings and put up a business. This is what I want and wish to do this year. I’m yearning to put up our own business so that when the time that my husband decided to stay here for good, we’ve already established a business which can be our source of income. For now I’m not yet sure what kind of business but I’m already getting ideas. So, if you have any idea, please share it with me. I’ll appreciate it.

I'll digress...do you know how much barcode scanners are priced here? My brother-in-law is looking for one and I can't give him an idea. Anyway, I told him to look online. I hope he can find one.

It's Final

Hubby will be renewing his contract for another two years. After several long discussions, weighing the issues, comparing options, analyzing the advantages and disadvantages and looking into the future, I concede with hubby and agreed that he’ll renew his contract. It’s a very hard decision to make. Really.

He knows my stand regarding working overseas, far from one’s family. But I felt that he’s really determined to renew. He laid down his thoughts on this and I laid mine but I admit that on some points, he’s right. We still need his earnings abroad.

So, on April he’ll be coming home and will stay maybe until the end of May. Hopefully, we’ll be able to celebrate Jaden’s birthday with him this time.

Sigh….it’s really hard. This means another two years of sacrifice. But I hope that we’ll be able to achieve the goals we set so that after this, he doesn’t need to renew again for another two years. I don’t want him to compromises the time that he should be with us.

Urrgggh!...Ang hirap talaga ng OFW ang asawa…

Updates

Noticed that I am not blogging regularly? Blame it to the holidays...my blogging mode does not sink in yet. I do have a lot of topics to blog but aside from not having the mood, I'm also caught up with several activities which made me even busier.

Anyway, I do hope that I'll be able to regain my mood this weekend and be able to write some post here and on my other blog. I'm also cooking yet another site (which will need a lot of attention as well). Will tell you about it once my good friend Milet is done fixing my problem (love you sis!).

Before I look for cardboard displays (for my sister's project), here are some updates on me and my family:

1. I had my new haircut last Sunday.
2. I was voted as one of the Board of Directors of our high school alumni association.
3. Hubby already filed his exit application and will be coming home by April.
4. Jaden is 2.7 months old and getting more curious and makulit. I can now leave for work without her crying for me. (that's if I told her that she'll have her donuts when I get home ;)

Have a Blessed Day

I got this from an email my sister sent me and thought of sharing this story to you.

Have a Blessed Day

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."
What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it."

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we
be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

Invite others towards good with wisdom. Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

Great men say, "Life has to be an incessant process of repair and reconstruction, of discarding evil and developing goodness…. In the journey of life, if you want to travel without fear, you must have the ticket of a good conscience."

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…
And even more beautiful is, knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

Happy New Year..Happy New Thoughts

It's the last day of the long vacation. We will all be back to our normal lives. Back to our old routines. Back to the real world.

What was the best with the long Christmas vacation? It was the time I spent with my daughter and my family. For almost two weeks that I spent with my daughter it made me learned so many things about her and I was able to bond with her for a long time. On her part naman, she maybe get the hang of it (na kasama niya ko maghapon) kaya even if I asked the yaya to bathe her she would always prefer me taking care of her over her yaya. It adds also that her yaya went on vacation from Monday last week until Friday so kami lang talaga sa house ang magkasama maghapon. What I learned about her? She can communicate very well with me. She knows the colors green, red, yellow, blue, orange, and violet. She has a lot of stories to tell mommy everyday.

But I had to face reality na balik na uli sa normal ang life. This means balik trabaho so balik na uli sa original na gabi na lng kami magkikita. I know I'll miss her.

Anyway, new year means resolutions. I don't make new year resolutions but I want to see 2009 as a blessed year, I want to turn into a new leaf ...on my work and my life as a whole..with God's help and direction. God has been so good and faithful to me and my family and I am just so thankful for that.

Well, Happy New year everyone and let's all hope and pray for a blessed year not just for our selves or family but also for our country.
