In "other" Words: Beautiful Inside and Out

This week, Elisa of Extravagant Grace is the host of In "other" words. She has chosen a quote from Anne Ortlund's book "The Disciplines of a Beautiful Woman." This week's quote is:

"But remember, for all your adult life you'll be a woman. And how you live your life as a woman, all by yourself before God, is what makes the real you. Nothing on the exterior can touch or change that precious inner sanctuary, your heart, his dwelling place unless you let it. And God, who loves you very much has tailor made all your outer life, your circumstances, your relationships, to pressure you into becoming that beautiful woman he's planned for you to be."

~ Anne Ortlund ~

I remember a time I asked my self and God these questions: “Why did God created me as a woman? What is my purpose of living? If I were created the other way, how would my life be like? If I didn’t know Him earlier, would I be the same as I am now? But in time like this, I'll be reminded by God's words that says:

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:15-16 NIV)

and also this verse:

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NIV)

I look at my self now and I know that I’m blessed because God created me a woman. When I accepted HIm as my personal Lord and savior, Ibegan to know why I am here. I started to know my purpose. All the difficulties and hardships I’ve gone through, all the experiences, all the things I’ve been through since I was a child until now has helped in shaping my whole being. I am not yet perfect but I am in the process of refinement and perfection…Though the world has its own perspective on beauty, I seek not to be blinded. I thank God for His grace...and everything that I am now is what He wanted me to become.I continuously seek to become a woman beautiful in God’s sight… inside and out.

Car Donation

I was glad to know that there is actually a noble way to help the needs of single mothers, homeless, orphans, and teen and adult rehabs by just donating your cars. Old, extra/excess or slightly used, running or not! In fact you can donate whatever vehicle you have, either a van, a truck, or a boat! It’s an admirable way to dispose those old cars without the hassle of expensive want ads, phone calls, or price haggling from prospective buyers. How?

I saw it from the site of Car Angel. It’s a ministry, a non-profit organization that actually generate funds from your old cars to reach to the needs of helpless people. The funds they get from your car donation are being used to create helpful videos like Children’s DVDs, Anti-Drug Movies and Prison Literatures. A sample can be seen here

Their motto is to “help us help others”. So if you feel that you don’t have any more use of your extra car or you need the IRS tax deduction for your automobile, think about those who'll benefit from it..consider donating it to Car Angel. You’ll be guaranteed that your donation will be for a good cause.

You Cheer Me up

Manic Monday #3

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for one hour, what would you have them do?
-If a servant would come to our house, she won't be doing anything anymore. Actually, I already have a helper in the house, and so far she's doing good in helping me out. She's baby sitting my daughter when I'm at work. She do the laundry every week-end and also do the pressing. I also asks her to run for errands aside from her usual tasks. I, on the other hand is in charge of the cooking..coz I love it.

Has your life ever been changed by an apparently random occurrence?
-Yes. Actually a lot of times. And I look as it as God's way of talking to me. I believe every occurences, every event, every incident has their own purpose.

You're having dinner with several friends and acquaintances. They all criticize a close friend of yours (not knowing he/she is a friend). The criticism is unjustified. What would you do?
- Being a true friend, I'll speak for him/her and for what is right. I'll tell them that it's not good and fair to talk about and criticize a person behind his/her back. But of course I will say this in a very careful and pleasant manner. I'll tell them later that the person is a close friend.. let them think how'd they feel if they are the ones being criticize behind their backs. Also, I'll speak in behalf of my friend if I know about the issue. I will defend him/her if he/she's falsely accused. And I will reiterate that it's just not right to criticize a person who cannot defend her/himself because he/she is not there.

Folly beach sc real estate

Do you dream of having your own home near the beach? I like beaches and having a home near them seems really relaxing. I think in the US, people who wanted to live near the beaches prefer South Carolina. Particularly, folly beach sc real estate. I already saw some photos of houses in that area and they are really fantastic. Seeing them is like looking at a painting.

On her 20th month

....I just noticed that I haven't posted any updates on Jaden lately. She'll be 20 months old by the end of this month...bilis talaga ng panahon...

Lately she's becoming more and more malikot and makulit. Last night I let her talked to her daddy on the phone and sobrang tuwa si hubby to hear his daughter, although of course some of the words di niya maintindihan...he asked me after kung ano sinabi ng anak niya.:D My little lady is still babbling some words which pinipilit ko talaga intindihin para may communication kami.

I'll list down some of the things she do now...just to journal her milestones :D

  1. She can tell me if she wants to watch TV, she'll just pull my hands towards the TV or give me the remote control and says "bibi" :D.

  2. She can easily recognize a teddy bear anywhere she sees one and will say "Teddy!"

  3. She calls barney as "narni"

  4. She hums the songs or jingle of tv commercials. She loves singing :)

  5. I can already tell her to put a trash to the garbage. Then after niya maitapon she'll return and will say "nana.." with her arms doing the empty action.

  6. She's not confuse anymore sa pagtawag sa akin. She calls me "mommy" not tita, nanay, tatay, or whatever.

  7. She imitates the vendors she hears outside, she'll put something on her head and will shout "bulay.."

  8. She likes the kitchen. particularly, where the ref is..she'll pull my hands para i can lead her to the ref and she'll ask me to open it..wala lang.. titingin lang kung ano ang makakalikot. But i do not allow her to do this very often, baka lumaki ang bill ng meralco :D

  9. She loves eating with her own set of plate and spoon. If she loves the food, she'll say "yum..yum!"

  10. She has this set of kitchen toys, if I asked her to cook for mommy, magluluto siya talaga..then she'll spoon an imaginary food from her toy cooking pot and give it to me..She also recognizes fish from chicken.

  11. She loves yogurt. But she eats it not with a spoon but with her hands :D

  12. If she wants to sleep na and I'm still watching TV, she'l pull my hands leading me to our bedroom.

  13. She can demonstrate the facial expressions of happy, pretty and cute :P

  14. If she sees me carrying a bag, she'll say "babay.." pero nakasimangot yun telling me that she doesn't want me to leave.

  15. Some of the words she can say now aside from above: "plis" (if she's begging for something), "fish", "eyshi", "tisha", "nini", (her cousins's names), "toysh", "chelsi" (barbara's doll), "cheers" (she'll do this if she's drinking and find me with a glass of water too), "hapi", "shush" (shoes), "yesh" (her answer if I'm asking her if she loves mommy)

I get more and more excited everyday when I come home....kasi once she saw me na at the door, she'll kiss me tapos mag be-bless siya..then she'll make kwento na kahit di ko naiintindihan masarap pakinggan.

tinda daw sya....

building blocks..

ganito daw ang "cute"!

kinamay na yogurt....

In "Other" Words : Living in Complacency

This week's "In 'Other' Words" is hosted by debbie at her site, Chocolate and Coffee. She has chosen a quote from A.W.Tozer.
This week's quote is:

"I want deliberately to encourage this mighty longing after God. The lack of it has brought us to our present low estate. The stiff and wooden quality about our religious lives is a result of our lack of holy desire. Complacency is a deadly foe of all spiritual growth. Actue desire must be present or there will be no manifestation of Christ to His people. He waits to be wanted. Too bad that with many of us He waits for long, so very long, in vain."
~A.W.Tozer
~

It’s sad but true. More and more Christians today are living in complacency. A life that is content in living at comfort zones. Not as zealous and on fire as the early Christians were. Some label this as living in a non-religious way…not thinking how far non-religious Christianity can go. Not realizing that they are already heading the wrong way…

I have seen a lot of people who have been in this situation. No more prayer life. Not even a minute to open their bibles. A church goer but not a worshipper. A Sunday Christian just living plain and they think it’s normal. I have also seen Christians in the corporate world, who can easily compromise their faith.

It’s true that when a Christian started living his life according to his own will, or if he thinks its okay to commit “little sins” and “white lies”, and if he thinks that its ok since his salvation cannot be taken away from him, it’s a disaster. Because the bible says salvation is not the end but the beginning of a new life. A life LIKE Christ’s. A holy and acceptable life before God. Its true that we’re just mere people, we can easily commit mistakes or sins. But let us not allow ourselves be trapped with this saying. It’s dangerous when we lose conviction from God in what we do or think or say. We should always guard our hearts and minds so that we will not give in to what the world is offering and live like ordinary people do. We should desire to live more and more like Christ.

Manic Monday

If you had to be named after one of the 50 states, which would it be?
I'll choose to be named, LOUISIANA...my nickname would be Loui...cool! :D

Where do you go for advice?
I usually go to my sister for advices..I believe she knows better :)

What is the sickest you've ever been?
I was hospitalized because of gastrointeritis..it was then my first time to be rushed to the hospital.

On growing old

Can you imagine where will you be when you grow old? Here in the Philippines, families have high regard to their elderly maybe because of close family ties. Seldom families choose to send their old relatives to nursing homes. It’s a bit different in other countries. A lot of families now in the US and UK are considering nursing homes for their elderly. Maybe due to their busy lives and way of living, they could not personally attend to their needs anymore.

I just thought…we should be an example to our children on how we take care of elderly members of our families so that when we grow old, we will receive the same respect and care from them.

In "Other" words -- a family of faith

This week's In Other Words is being hosted by Loni at her site, Writing Canvas. She has chosen a quote from the book: Family Driven Faith by Voddie T. Baucham, Jr. This week's quote is:

"A family without a commitment to the God of the Bible has
no hope of stemming the tide of cultural onslaught. If we mix a little biblical
truth, a little secular physchology, a little romance novel idology, and a
little eastern mysticism, we will get a deadly mixture of lies. Unfortunately,
this is what many Christian families do . . .
If we are to experience
multigenerational faithfulness we must come to a place where we throw off
the shackles of our culture and live in the fullness that is found only in Christ. We must be people who live the Word in our homes."

~By Voddie T. Baucham, Jr~

I belong to a family that is not perfect, even until now; I cannot say that it’s a perfect family. When we we’re young, my parents are not yet Christians but then I’m thankful that we were raised with good values.

Now that I already have my own family, it’s really a challenge. A challenge for us to raise our children with Christ-like character…a challenge to build a good foundation on our children…a challenge to be a living testimony and a good example to them…and a challenge to build a responsible and Godly family.

It helps a lot that our church is not the typical local churches today that only teach about prosperity, tithing or salvation. It teaches about biblical foundation, spiritual growth, discipline and foundation for Christian families. Because of that I am learning.

I’m thankful that my husband is a man of God….and we have the same FAITH…and this is what I kept on telling my sisters who are still single. That they should obey God in the area of relationship. This is the most critical part if one is planning to start a family. If not….it would be difficult…a REAL struggle. As the bible says..

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

[2 Corinthians 6:14/KJV]

Now, I am committed to kneel down and pray for my family everyday, specially our daughter. My prayer is that we’ll be able to raise our children in God’s way, through God’s words…that we will be a family that does not compromise the faith that we have.

  3. For having an ever helpful, caring and supportive family...whom I can always count on specially now that hubby's miles away.

So it's another year

It’s another year...another beginning...a fresh new start. For some, it would mean a new set of New Year resolution. I don’t do resolutions but I’ll share with you some of our plans and wishes for this year and the years to come...

1. Own house and lot
2. A new car with car insurance
3. Educational Plan for Jaden
4. Insurance for hubby and me
5. A business of our own
6. Paid off all debts
7. A huge amount of savings
8. Be able to religiously pay our monthly equity

I’m also planning to:
1. Enroll Jaden either at Kindermusik or Tumbletots.
2. Pursue my driving lesson before the end of the month.
3. Get a new passport for me and Jaden.

I’m praying for:
1. Good health, safety, and God’s favor for hubby
2. Good health for Jaden
3. A new job for my BIL
4. A safe delivery for my sister
5. A wonderful wedding and marriage for my sister

And I’m also praying something for me and my career (which I choose not to disclose here… :D).

Well, this post seems a bit late. It should be posted earlier but I got caught up with paid posts. Not until last night when I realized to post it...

Last night, our pastor shared about the things we should do to face the challenges of the New Year. He quoted the following verses from Philippians 3:

12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

So this year, I promise to learn from the past and focus on the future. And I’m praying that God will be with us as we go through our plans and help us achieved them one by one. I’m praying that God will be with me as I journey to yet another year. :)

Award #2

Another award was graciously given to me...thank you so much Joey and Toni for this wonderful Friendship award :)..I deeply appreciate it.

I'm passing this on to all of my blog friends listed on my blogroll :) Thank you for the gift of friendship online :)

All-in-one

As technology evolves and market needs change, a lot of innovative products are being introduced. Today, technology leaders create gadgets that are multi-functional or what we call the all-in-one. For example, mobile phone nowadays already has functions of an mp3 player, camera and video, radio, pc, internet, etc.

In the consumer electronics industry however, technology leaders are looking into HDMI as the standard for cables and connectors. They call it the all-in-one cable. Thousand of audio and video devices now are already HDMI-enabled. So looking into the future, there will be no more tangled cords for audio and video connection because one HDMI cable can do it all. Amazing!

Manic Monday

What was the last thing you regret buying?
It’s the cd case which would have been the holder of the calendar I made for hubby. Unfortunately, it didn’t fit. I made the calendar at 4.75 inches. Did not make any adjustment on in any cd case. Oh well, I sent it to him anyway. I just told him to just figure out what he can do to hold the calendar pages

If you had a crystal ball that could tell you the truth about any one thing you wished to know about yourself, life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?
Honestly, I don’t want to see it coz I want to live each day as it
comes. I want my life to be exciting.

How do you know when you're in love?

When I’m in love, I’m happy. I’m excited. I’m hopeful. And everyday, I know I’m in love with my dear hubby :)

My Fashion Style

Your Fashion Style is Classic

You like what's stood the test of time...

Simple, well styled clothes that don't scream trendy

You stay updated and modern, but your clothes stay in style for a while

You wouldn't be caught in animal prints, fake fur, or super bright colors

Saw this quiz from Toni's blog. I got curious as well as to the result of my own test so there...The result is perfectly true to me. I like make-ups and cute accessories. I'm a bit of Kikay but not that extreme naman. :D

First Award

A great thing to start the year...Toni gave me this award :) Thanks sis!

This blog is really a treasure for me. This is my constant companion in journaling my life. I see to it that every event, every memories or anything in my life will be documented through this blog. This is where I learned a lot and met new friends. Of course, it has been a source of added income also through paid blogging.

I'm giving back the award to Toni and Nice and passing this on to Milette, Heidi and Mai.

Five Reasons

Five reasons to be thankful and happy:
  1. Jaden's ok now. She got sick after Christmas until Jan.3. She's got fever for 5 days, swollen gums because of erupting mollars, and chapped lips because of singaw, kaya hirap dumede. She lost weight...*sigh* I'm just thankful that she's ok now and she's in her normal milk intake. Sana bumalik ang malusog na katawan :D
  2. Hubby's appointment paper was released yesterday. Finally, his promotion is official. We'll just wait for the adjustment of his salary.
  3. We already got our own house and lot. It's not that big but it's enough for us. The developer is still constructing the village. It would be ready by end of next year. Matagal pa but atleast we we're able to reserve a unit.
  4. Mas mababa ang dollar but still thank God for the paid blogging funds I'm getting. Because of this I was able to reserve the unit. Paypal and EON has been very good too :)
  5. Got a new pair of pants, a gift from my sister. I wasn't able to buy anything for my self last Christmas. But thanks to all who remembered me through their gifts. :)

Las Vegas

I’m sure a lot of people are looking forward to visiting Las Vegas even for once in their lifetime. Why not? It’s like a fantasy land. The sounds and sights of Vegas are only some of the things that attract people to visit it. Also, hotels in Las Vegas are some of the glamorous five stars and unique hotels in the world. It’s no doubt why our boxing champ Manny Pacquiao enjoys it there whenever he has a boxing fight. I don’t know if we can visit Vegas, but I’m sure it would be a great experience if ever.

Our investment this year

Finally, I met an agent who helped us get our own house. She was recommended by a church friend who happens to be a former officemate. She’s working in a commercial real estate company for years now.

She helped us secure a good unit and now I’m just collating all necessary documents to be processed. I am so excited that now, we already got something worthy to invest on.

I just hope that the developer will be able to finish all the units in time so that we can already transfer to a house we can call our own.

Turning 30

This year, I’ll be turning 30. Wow…now, its bye-bye 20s and hello to 30s! Two more years and I’ll be off the calendar.:D

They say that when women reaches the age of 30, its when a lot of changes happen especially on the skin. They say that this is when women should really take utmost care of their skin. That’s why women should be taking vitamin E supplements to maintain moisture and young looking skin.

I’m not that vain, :D but I checked on skinceuticals to look for products that will help me maintain a younger, and radiant looking skin. It is proven fact that Skinceuticals helps maintain and improve skin health. Their line of advanced skincare products is designed to prevent future damage, protect healthy skin, and correct previous damage.

Fix it

I asked my future brother-in-law to take charge of our car. Hubby already agreed to let him fix and use it, instead of it being stock in the garage.

This week he will check on it to see what necessary things to fix or replace. I don’t have a good eye on this, that’s why. I just know it its busted or broken but not good on pointing the cause. I’ve been meaning to go to an auto shop to look for some auto accessories since last year but never been able to since I got so busy. I just got the time yesterday to check on our car and wow, it totally needs some serious repair. I just hope that my brother-in-law will be able to restore it.

My 1st birthday wish

I got a gold chain necklace with a heart pendant from hubby last Christmas. It’s been my silent wish even before he left. My husband was so sweet…I didn’t obviously asked for it but I got my wish granted. And since he’s so generous, I’m looking for the right timing for my second request. A pair of earrings or a bracelet maybe for my birthday…its six months from now so he still got enough time to prepare.

The Proverbs 31 Woman

This week’s In Other Words is being hosted by Nina of mama’s little treasures . She has chosen this verse for us to ponder and write about.

"In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet."
Proverbs 31: 19 - 21 (NIV).

I have been a wife for two years and five months now…been a mother for one year and seven months now…and still counting. When I decided to settle down and start my own family, I knew that it would be a total redirection of priorities and balancing of my self. I want to be a good wife and mother as every woman on earth wanted to be. I expect it to be hard but fulfilling…and true enough.

Being a regular employee, working 8 hours a day, a church worker, a friend, a daughter, a sister, a wife with a husband working overseas, and a mother raising her daughter alone temporarily, time management is what keeps me aligned. I have been yearning to be a SAHM so that I can properly guide my daughter’s growing up years. But for now, I cannot. But I know that God has been so good and merciful to me. I was able to balance work and family life and can still get actively involved in my church ministry. I now know how to perfectly juggle my different roles.

As I re-read the passages above, I realized that God created all of us for a purpose…and that women play a vital role in this earth. That God gave us women a special ability on handling the multiple roles of our lives.

I am not a perfect wife or mother, but I’m learning and keep on seeking God’s guidance to be the best wife and mother for my husband and daughter. And with God’s guidance, I know I could be.

My 1st project

I’m planning to have our car repaired this month. It has been stocked for four months now since my brother in law returned it. I’m afraid it won’t run as it has been. I will also buy new batteries since some thief stole it. Its tires needed replacement as well. I just hope that there won’t be any major problem on the machine. Hubby’s friend who works in an auto repair shop suggested putting billet grilles on it as well. Well, I’ll think about it. For now, my priority is to have it in good condition again.

Our New Player

Hubby sent us a new mini hi-fi component. It was brought here by his friend. I received it yesterday. It was so in time since our old one had already broken down, that’s why our little girl hasn’t seen Barney for months now.

After I finished setting it up, I let her watch Barney DVDs. She was so happy to see the purple dinosaur again, hehehe. I turned off the dvd subtitle coz it kind of disturb her. She really loves these videos but I only allow her to watch them for a certain period of time.
